The 2023 Annual North Carolina Beef Cattle Field Day will take place at the Butner Beef Cattle Field Lab at 8800 Cassam Road in Bahama, NC on March 18, 2023. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. and the program will be from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided. This year’s program will feature research updates from the NC Beef Systems Team on byproduct feeds, reproduction, parasite prevention, herd health, and pasture renovation. Don’t miss this free event.

Byproduct Feeds

Current research on byproduct feeds including research on cotton byproducts and wet brewers’ grain. research. Attendees will visit steers on trial in the calan gate system where feed intake is measured.

Parasite and Health

Graduate students in the Department of Animal Science and faculty at the Vet School will discuss current work on beef cattle parasite management. In addition, attendees will learn about new regulations in herd health.

Reproduction

Researchers and graduate students will share the latest updates on reproductive techniques and management guidelines. Learn about current repro research and extension outreach efforts.

Pasture Renovation

Attendees will visit 3-year-old stands of fescue and orchardgrass renovated with different management techniques. This areal will also include a fescue variety trial
