N.C. Cooperative Extension, Orange County Center’s 4-H Youth Development Program invites Orange County teens to participate in a working group that will engage, empower, and develop them as leaders during the 2024 election season. Kids Voting North Carolina, a program of North Carolina 4-H, will provide opportunities this fall for youth to learn about government, to explore the voting process, to meet with and interview candidates for public office, to work together to develop a non-partisan youth voter guide covering issues important to youth, all culminating in the production of a voter guide and the hosting of mock elections for Orange County youth at select locations across Orange County on Election Day.

Thanks to the efforts of participating teens, youth across Orange County will get the chance to practice voting and learn about civic engagement through interactive activities on Election Day at the Bonnie B Davis Center and the Orange County Public Libraries.

Participants in the working group will meet bi-weekly from September 3 to October 29 to prepare the voter guide and materials for the mock election. The series will kick off on September 3 with a Real Colors® Assessment, helping them to explore their communication preferences, temperaments, and behaviors.

Meeting Dates: September 3, September 17, October 1, October 15, October 29. Voting Day activities on November 5.
