Raleigh, NC –  On July 22nd, Orange County resident and 4-H member Lauren Hoesli was inducted into the North Carolina 4-H Honor Club during a ceremony at North Carolina 4-H Congress. Induction into 4-H Honor Club marks high achievement and participation in 4-H and guarantees members a connection to NC 4-H for a lifetime.

Founded in 1931, Honor Club is a statewide 4-H service organization with over three thousand members from every county across North Carolina. 4-H’ers are granted membership in NC 4-H Honor Club for outstanding accomplishments in leadership, civic engagement, and community service. In what is a defining moment for many 4-H’ers, accepted candidates are inducted into Honor Club at 4-H Congress in Raleigh in a special candlelight ceremony where they are “tapped” into the organization by an existing member.

Lauren is nineteen years old and has been involved in a variety of 4-H projects for over 13 years, including raising and showing market lambs, competing in 4-H livestock judging contests, co-founding the Davis Memorial 4-H Youth Garden, attending National 4-H leadership conferences, and competing on the 4-H shooting sports team, among many other activities. Of her experience in 4-H, Lauren says, “4-H has taught me life lessons that many people can’t say they have learned. Through 4-H, there are skills you learn, people you meet, and events you will attend that will be cherished forever. 4-H is an organization I believe everyone should be a part of. Through NC 4-H Honor Club, I want to collaborate with other members and alumni, be an advocate for 4-H, and show youth why this organization is important.” Congratulations to Lauren on this major accomplishment!
