Concord, NC- Sarah Maddry, Jonathan Smith, Kathleen Rogers, Elisa Phillips, Patty Holmes, and Ivelisse Colon, Extension Agents and Program Assistants with N.C. Cooperative Extension, were recognized for an achievement during the 2024 North Carolina Association of Extension 4-H Youth Development Professionals Annual Conference held in Concord, NC, August 19th-21st.

This team received the Excellence in Healthy Living Programming Award. 4-H and FCS programs in Alamance and Orange Counties presented the 2023 Healthy Living Camp for 3rd to 5th grade students. Goals for the camp included improving youth comprehension and application of food safety and kitchen skills and providing opportunities to learn how to cook healthy meals using fresh ingredients.

The purpose of the North Carolina Association of Extension 4-H Youth Development Professionals is to promote the profession of Extension 4-H and youth work in North Carolina. The 4-H program is the youth education program of North Carolina Cooperative Extension, based at North Carolina State and North Carolina A&T State Universities. More than 260,000 young people ages 5 through 18 participate in North Carolina 4-H activities each year with the help of 16,700 adult and youth volunteers. You can find more information on 4-H at http://www.nc4h.org.

4-H Professionals Receive the NCAE4-HYDP Healthy Living Award.

Extension Professionals Recognized by NCAE4-HYDP with 2024 Healthy Living Programming Award. Accepting the award on behalf of the team in August were Kathleen Rogers, Jonathon Smith, and Sarah Maddry.
