Collapse ▲Sarah Maddry is set to rejoin the Orange County Cooperative Extension team on February 3 as our new Extension Agent for 4-H Youth Development. Sarah previously served as the Alamance County 4-H Agent. Before transferring to Alamance, she served as the Orange County 4-H Program Assistant from 2020 to 2021, helping our team keep 4-H programming and outreach efforts active in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. She also worked as our Summer Extension Intern in 2019. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Business and a Master of Agricultural Education and Human Sciences from NC State University.
Sarah is a talented 4-H professional who is passionate about serving K-12 youth and their families. She has a wealth of experience managing school enrichment and afterschool programs such as embryology, building and supporting 4-H Clubs, planning award-winning camps, and using technology to promote her programs. She has been a member of the Central Piedmont Junior Livestock Show & Sale planning committee for several years. She is the recipient of multiple state Extension awards and her work has been recognized at the state and national levels by the National Association of Extension 4-H Youth Development Professionals and its North Carolina affiliate.
Sarah is passionate about developing the next generation of young leaders, providing guidance for 4-H youth councils at the county and district levels.
“After a few years in Alamance County, I’m excited to be returning to Orange County where I got my start in 4-H back in 2019”, says Maddry. “I’m looking forward to working with the clubs, rebuilding the teen council, and continuing to bring 4-H to the residents of Orange County.”
County Extension Director and outgoing 4-H Agent Jonathon Smith believes 4-H is in good hands with Sarah. “Sarah is a young leader who has the potential to take our program to greater heights, serving more youth and building programs that will truly make an impact across Orange County. She is a well-respected leader within the Extension profession and I can’t wait to see all that our 4-H staff and volunteers will accomplish together in the years to come under Sarah’s leadership.”
