The Central Region 4-H Shooting Sports competition was held on Saturday, August 16th at Millstone 4-H Center and John F Lentz Hunted Education Complex in Ellerbe, NC. The Backroad Sharp Shooters were well represented with over 20 4-H members competing.

Take a look at some of the highlights from the competition.

Junior Shotgun

The Pigs earned 5th place team. Team members are Nolan Austin, Chase Harris, Jacob Lambert, Mason Reck, and Cody Skyes. Jacob Lambert shot 23 of 25 clays, earning him 2nd high individual. Chase Harris shot 24 of 25 clays, earning him 1st high individual.

The Piglets was comprised of Easton Hollowell, Jacey O’Briant and Grayson Poole. The team won 3rd place, with Grayson Poole shooting 24 of 25 clays, tying for 1st high individual.

The Wild Boars took home 9th place. Team members were Cam Hill, Jax Hill, Peyton Morgan, and Gage Parker.

Junior Rifle Telescopic

As an individual, Chase Harris placed 7th.

The Wild Boars team took home 1st place team. Team members were Cam Hill, Peyton Morgan and Gage Parker.

The Wild Hogs finished in 7th place for teams. This team consisted of Hayes Bullock, Camden Clayton and Fin Hill.

Junior Archery- Compound

We had 3 individuals compete in compound archery and man did they come to win.

Hayes Bullock placed 3rd high individual.

Chase Harris placed 1st high individual.

Gage Parker placed 7th high individual.

Junior Air Pistol

2 individuals competed in Air Pistol and did excellent.

Chase Harris placed 1st individual.

Jacob Lambert placed 6th individual.

Senior Shotgun

The Hogs team earned 4th place. Team members were Braeden Anderson, Cayson Clayton, Jack Jones, Drew Prinzo and Luke Walker. Cayson Clayton took home 5th place individual, having shot 23 of 25 clays, with team mates Jack and Drew not far behind with 22 of 25.

Senior Archery- Compound Hunter/Sporter

As individuals, Cayson Clayton and Jack Jones excelled with Cayson placing 4th high individual with a score of 192 out of 200 and Jack placing 1st high individual with a score of 195 out of 200.

Senior Archery- Compound Match

Cayson Clayton and Jack Jones again did well in the compound match discipline. Cayson placed 5th high individually and Jack placed 2nd high individually.

Senior Air Pistol

Payton Borland competed in air pistol as an individual. Payton earned 3rd place.
