Welcome to the Orange County 4-H Summer Program! We have opportunities this year for youth in grades K-12. To participate, youth must be between the ages of 5 and 18 as of January 1, 2024.

To register for a camp, 4-H membership is required. However, membership is FREE. If your child is already enrolled, proceed to 4-H Online to sign up for camps.

If your child is not a current 4-H member, please enroll them in 4-H first by following the instructions here. Once the membership is approved, you will be able to register them for their chosen camps via the 4-H Online portal.

After registering, you will be invoiced for camp fees. Fees will be due two weeks before each camp.

Need financial assistance to send your child to camp?  Orange County Department of Social Services has a  Youth Enhancement Fund. They may be able to provide assistance if you qualify. Visit their website for more information.

Cloverbud Summer Fun Camp is a great way for youth to make friends and enjoy participating in a wide variety of STEM activities. From water games to science experiments, youth will enjoy every moment of this interactive, hands-on day camp.

Art Week July 1-3, 2024

Elementary Art & Smoothies Week

Ages: Grades K-5
Location: Davis Center, 1020 US Hwy 70 W, Hillsborough
Time: 9:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M.
Spots Available: 20 for each activity/day.
Deadline to Register: June 20 in 4-H Online (Camp is now full)
4-H members in grades K-5 are invited to join us for fun art activities while making some tasty and healthy smoothies. July 1 will be papermaking ($25). July 2 will be painting a turtle on canvas ($30)*. July 3 will be papier-mâché ($10). The art activity and smoothie will be different each day.

Age: Rising 3rd to 5th Grade
Location: On July 8-9, we will be holding camp at the Alamance County Extension Center located at 209-C N Graham Hopedale Rd, Burlington, NC 27217. On July 10-11, camp will be held at the Orange County Center (Davis Center). Transportation will be provided each day. Families should drop off and pick up their children from the Bonnie B Davis Center in Hillsborough at 8:30 A.M. each day.
Time: 8:30 A.M.-5:00 P.M.
Price: $40 (lunch included)

North Carolina 4-H Congress

July 22-26, 2024

Age: 13-18 as of January 1, 2024

Time: Departing July 22 at 2:00 P.M. from Hillsborough. Returning around 9:00 A.M. on July 26.

Price: $250 (includes lodging and most meals)

Location: NC State University, Raleigh

This is North Carolina’s premier 4-H teen conference. Conference highlights will include the Honor Club Tapping Ceremony, workshops, campaigning and election of state officers, dances, community service projects, citizenship engagement activities, and much more! We’re going to stay on campus. We typically go to fun places like the NC State Dairy, the Dorthea Dix Park Sunflower Field, and other cool locations.

Deadline to Register:  Email Jonathon Smith at jonathon_smith@ncsu.edu by June 3 if you would like to attend. Payment will not be due until July 15. We’ll send an invoice after June 3 and you can submit payment anytime up until July 15.

Engage in hands-on learning by applying the engineering design process to solve a challenge! We will conduct science experiments and visit the Morehead Planetarium where many astronauts have trained. This camp emphasizes teamwork and creativity as you learn about the fascinating world around you!

Join this hoppin’ and furry camp as we spend a day at the NC Zoo, take the Hunter Safety Course, get up close with animals, learn about wildlife conservation and biodiversity. and engage in creature-related activities!

Island and Sound Exploration

Time: Departing Hillsborough at 6:00 A.M. Returning at 6:00 P.M.

Price: $44 (does not include meals)

Join us as we explore the coast and its wonders. This is a one-day beach trip. After boarding our vessel in Carolina Beach, we will travel through Myrtle Grove Sound and the Intracoastal Waterway before landing on Masonboro Island. Marine educators will be aboard the passenger vessel to add insights to our discoveries as we take part in an array of hands-on experiences that make learning exciting. We will explore the diverse biology of the beautiful beach, marsh, and tidal creeks. After over two hours of learning and fun we get back aboard our vessel and return to the dock.
