Orange County Empowers Local Farmers at 2026 Agricultural Summit
Agriculture remains a vital cornerstone of Orange County’s community, serving as a primary economic driver and a defining element of our local culture. To support the farmers feeding our community and beyond, Orange County Government, in partnership with the Orange County Center of North Carolina Cooperative Extension, is proud to host the 2026 Agricultural Summit on Monday, February 16, at the Cedar Grove Community Center.
Under this year’s theme, “Innovate to Elevate: Community Resources for Farm Profit,” the summit shifts the focus toward long-term financial sustainability. The program is designed to help attending farmers envision and execute a more profitable future through expert-led breakout sessions and peer-to-peer learning.
From 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., participants will explore critical issues including land access, cost-share opportunities, and business diversification through agritourism. The event will also feature a showcase of regional vendors and conclude with a complimentary lunch – locally sourced, of course.
Key Topics Include:
-
Funding your Future: Cost-share programs, loans, and debt management.
-
Expanding your Reach: Agritourism, special events, and value-added products.
-
Operational Excellence: Land access, sustainability, and efficiency.
-
Community Connection: Networking with regional vendors and industry partners.
In the event of inclement weather, the event will be rescheduled for February 23. All registrants will be notified in advance should a change of date be required.
In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, N.C. Cooperative Extension will honor requests for reasonable accommodations made by individuals with disabilities. Please direct accommodation requests to Jonathon Smith at jonathon_smith@ncsu.edu or 919-245-2057. Requests can be served more effectively if notice is provided at least 10 days before the event.
Register Online Here by February 12.
